INQUIRE ABOUT FEES

Individual psychotherapy, or individual therapy, is a process aimed at discovering answers and finding solutions to various emotional and behavioral issues that may affect your well-being at a given time in your life. This type of therapy creates a space where a therapist (typically a specialized psychologist) and a client meet to explore, through verbal and non-verbal communication, feelings, beliefs, memories, and behaviors.

Why should you consider therapy as an option?

Psychological therapy is built on essential principles such as trust, safety, and confidentiality. In each therapy session, the focus is on listening, respecting your freedom and individuality, without judgment or evaluation. There are multiple reasons why many of us turn to therapy. These may include difficulty in facing significant challenges, childhood traumas, depression, anxiety, or simply a desire to better understand oneself.

How does the therapeutic process unfold?

In the first therapy session, the focus is on gathering essential information. The therapist will discuss with you your physical, mental, and emotional state, as well as the motivation behind seeking therapy.

Gathering information may take several sessions, as this time is needed for the therapist to determine the appropriate approach and strategy for you.

It is crucial to feel comfortable with the therapist’s style and to assess whether it meets your needs. You will have an open discussion about the type of therapy, therapy goals, session duration, and the total number of sessions.

The therapist will guide you in discussions by asking relevant questions. Be open and cooperative, and share your current or past experiences. Some sessions may provoke intense emotions, but this should not discourage you or make you want to give up.

Throughout the therapy, the therapist may assign “homework” based on the topics discussed. To progress, it is important to take these assignments seriously.

Over time, individuals in therapy develop skills, become more positive, and find more effective solutions to their challenges.

How long does psychological therapy last?

The duration of psychological therapy is not fixed and is determined by the individual needs of each client, as well as the goals of the therapy. Therapy may take place over a few sessions or may last several years.
